  • 285 Girls  were impacted with training in computational thinking,
    leadership, entrepreneurship, online safety, coding, robotics, and career orientation; in partnership with GIZ, NCC, Google and the Edo State Government; as WITIN expanded outreaches to Rivers, Edo, and Oyo states.

2023

1. DIGITAL SKILLS TRAININGS 

  • 174  Girls from underserved communities physically attended WITIN summit  as part of our 2023 #GirlsinICT celebration. They were introduced for the first time to Computational Thinking, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis with Power Bi. They were also introduced to Microsoft upskilling and reskilling career pathways.
  • 1,747 women  and girls joined in online (11,800 total online participants including men)
  • 28,000 viewers on Facebook streaming

3.  TECH LEADERSHIP & ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAININGS

  • 78 Young  Women who physically attended the summit were trained on Tech Entrepreneurship as Start-ups. They were mentored and had the opportunity to high-level network.
  • 1,344 women joined in online (8,400 total online participants including men)
  • 42,326 viewers  was recorded on Facebook streaming

4.  STEM ROLE-MODELING, MENTORING AND CAREER OUTREACHES

  • 12 teachers who also attended the summit, joined WITIN’s Teachers.ng Network; serving as role models and mentors to girls. They will also continue the training in their various schools

2021 : Covid Pandemic Aftermath

1. DIGITAL SKILLS TRAININGS 

  • 20 girls who attended our 2021 #GirlsinICT Celebration were trained on Computational Thinking

2. DIGITAL LITERACY & ONLINE SAFETY OUTREACHES

  •  WITIN’s team created a Video documentary of Mrs. Sarah Torere, a beneficiaiary of our GWEIT outreach program in 2011. Her story showed how the internet created an economic opportunity for her.
  • 1200  were surveyed and sensitized face-to-face  in rural and  underserved communities across the 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria. We investigated the level of technology adoption and digital literacies in their households.
  • 497 girls reached with digital literacy in Oshodi-Isolo communities in Lagos state to commemorate  the 2021, International Day of the Girl Child. WITIN also recognized some of the NYSC members of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Lagos State, for their diligent service and contributions towards developing their community
  • 98 girls participated in WITIN Hackathon  in Kano state, North Central Nigeria, to also mark the International Day of the Girl Child. Winners were celebrated to inspire other girls.

  • 48 entries  by young women were received and winners selected in a 3-stage assessment during WITIN’s 2021 WINSTEM Contest and Awards. The aim is to encourage girls as leaders in tech. Winners were announced as part of our 2021 #GirlsinICT activities

  • Delivered direct, face-to-face training to thousands of women, mainly community leaders and influencers, while supporting the record-breaking training of over 250,000 women across Nigeria in digital literacy and internet skills through the Intel She Will Connect and Women and the Web  Program .
  • Intel, USAID, and NetHope launched a public-private partnership, called the Women and the Web Alliance at the First Ladies  Forum during the U.S./Africa Leaders’ Summit at the White House with partners World Vision, World Pulse, Women in Technology in Nigeria (WITIN), and UN Women
